A pianist, art critic, artist, public figure, curator of projects and installations. She worked in tandem with her husband Ilya Kabakov.
Born in 1945 in Dnipropetrovsk (now Dnipro), now lives and works in New York. In 2005, the Kabakov family’s international children’s project “Ship of Tolerance” was born. 20 presentations in 20 different countries. In May 2023, the “Golden Easel” joined this project in Thessaloniki (Greece).
Laureate of the Oscar Kokoschka Prize, the French Order of Arts and Letters, the Imperial Prize of Japan and other awards.
The works of Emilia and Ilya Kabakov are held in the MOMA, the Guggenheim Museum, the Tate Modern, the MAXXI, the Pompidou Center, the State Hermitage, the Tretyakov Gallery, and many other museums and private collections.
