Born in 1946 in Dnipropetrovsk.
Graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Transport Engineers in 1974. Since 1980, he has worked in educational institutions. Beginning in the 1960s, he was involved in literary work, and later in journalism, environmentalism, and filmmaking.
In the 1980s, together with Lina Kurdyukova, he developed and implemented a methodology for animation pedagogy. The experience of his early years working with children and a detailed demonstration of the method became the basis for the book “Cartoon by Children.” A. A. Melik-Pashayev, editor of the magazine “Art in School,” played a significant role in the conceptualization and popularization of this methodology.
Since 1999, he has worked with children with special needs, developed a creative development course for children with cerebral palsy, and successfully implemented several international projects for the socialization of children with disabilities. This experience is described in the book “Art is Always Therapy.”
Excellent educator of the USSR, Ukrainian SSR, and Ukraine. Social innovator of the USSR. Member of the International Association of Animated Film (ASIFA-UNESCO). Member of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine (film education section). Participant in ASIFA-UNESCO animation projects.
Awarded first and prize-winning places at children’s film festivals in Switzerland, France, Japan, Germany, Norway, Great Britain, Poland, Hungary, Greece, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Italy, Croatia, and Mexico. Participant in children’s exhibitions in museums and cultural centers in Ukraine, Russia, Armenia, Georgia, Norway, Estonia, the USA, and Israel. He has conducted seminars, workshops, and lectures in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Moscow, Kyiv, Kaunas, Tbilisi, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Yerevan, Tallinn, Lillehammer, Boston, Hiroshima, Zagreb, Varna, London, and elsewhere.
Since March 2006, he has lived in Israel, continuing his public, educational, creative, and publishing activities.
