Holiday of children’s creativity on June 1, 2018

THE INTERNATIONAL FORUM ‘GOLDEN EASEL. FOLLOW IN METROPOLITAN ANDREY SHEPTYTSKY’S FOOTSTEPS’

The International forum of children’s art ‘Golden Easel’ is known for its annual seminars, conferences, workshops, plein airs, mobile exhibitions, the Lviv municipal children’s gallery and the Children’s gallery under the open air on the St. George’s Square in Lviv.

1000 participants from 11 countries (Germany, Italy, Moldova, Bulgaria, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland), especially a lot of children from East and South Ukraine, registered on the artclass.lviv.ua in order to realize their creative potential.

125 talented children became the ‘Golden Easel’ finalists based on the results of summer plein airs. They painted the monumental composition ‘The angel of my soul’ more than 120 m long in the Palace of arts (17 Kopernyka str.) on the 27-28 May.

The participants of the grand final, who were determined by the juries, painted an icon on the wooden ark in the Andrey Sheptytsky’s national museum on 30-31 May 2018.

More than 700 participants took part in the Holiday of children’s creativity, which started in the St. George’s Cathedral on 1 June at 10 a.m.  The blessed prayer for the gift of life and peace in Ukraine was conducted by Archbishop of Lviv Metropolitan Igor Vozniak.

After the prayer, Metropolitan Igor headed the spiritual and artistic forgiveness to the Palace of arts.

In the Lviv Palace of arts, the participants of the final and grand final were congratulated by Metropolitan Igor Vozniak, the head of the Commission on the beatification and canonization of the Ukrainian UGCC Fr. Polycarp Martseliuk, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Oleg Berezyuk, the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Oleg Syniutka, the director of the Lviv City Council department of development Natalia Bunda, the vice-president of the Lviv National Academy of Arts Roman Yatsiv, the head of the Lviv National Academy of Arts department of the sacred art Roman Vasilik, the honored art Ukrainian worker Mykola Opanashchuk, the founder of the Forum Olga Mikhailuk and others.

The Lviv Archbishop Igor Vozniak has particularly noted the personal exhibition of the participant of the final stage Pavlo Shachko. He handed him money for the plein airs around Europe.

The head of the Lviv regional state administration Oleg Syniutka awarded the talented children of Ukraine and presented the Grand Prix of the International Competition – the gold easel from the noble metal and with a diamond – to the winners of the grand final: Herman Chaplygin from the Berezanka village, Mykolaiv region, Oleksandr Gorbey, 13 years, Lviv and Yuvgen Fedun, 11 years, Lviv.

There are some participants of the grand final: Pavlo Shachko, 15 years, Gai village, Ternopil region; Dmytro Bubenchyk, 14 years, Draganivka village, Ternopil region; Yevgen Fedun, 11 years, Lviv; Sofia Kharunenko, 11 years, Zlatoustivka town, Donetsk region. All of them received a ticket to Disneyland in Paris from the honorary president of the Lviv Children Gallery Olena Demchuk.

All 125 participants of the final stage were awarded silver medals and 20 participants of the grand final with gold.

The journal “Art Class” in 2018 will print the results of the participants’ creative activity, as well as the original ideas of experienced teachers on the development of children’s creative thinking.

This year International Children’s Art Forum ‘Golden Easel. Follow in Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky’s footsteps’ was held with the blessing of the Archbishop Igor Vozniak and with the support of the Lviv Regional State Administration, the Lviv City Council, the Congregation of the Oriental Churches of the Apostolic See in Rome.
